Sequences of the advertisement calls produced by male Nathusius’ pipistrelles (Pipistrellus nathusii) during the autumn mating period were recorded from individuals at two separate sites in Antrim, Northern Ireland, in August 2004. Several male roosts were found at these sites in close proximity to a single maternity roost, each containing approximately 200 adult females and their young
For species such as the Nathusius pipistrelle (Pipistrellus nathusii) the males have to sing to attract a female. They find a nice mating roost and then sit at the entrance and 'sing' - they produce a specific type of social call known as an adveritsement call and the calls attract females to the mating roost. During a long-term study of advertising behaviour of Nathusius' pipistrelle in Southern Bohemia, social calls of a quite different structure and modified écholocation calls among typical social calls of this species were recorded during May and June 2006. The aim of this report is to describe this type of unusual social calls. Pipistrellus bats - social calls (pitched recording) by FFH Monitor published on 2017-03-09T20:56:08Z. We analysed phonologic, syntactic and semantic characteristics of these calls based on 2,924 acoustic records obtained from individual males repeatedly occupying 33 roosts in southern Bohemia from 1999 to 2006. Pipistrellus nathusii(Keyserling and Blasius, 1839) is found from the Iberian Peninsula and British Isles to Asia Minor and Transcaucasia (Bogdanowicz, 1999; Russ et al.,2001). In May and June, a continuous social vocalization of quite unusual structure and composition was recorded apart from these standard calls. The social organization of the pipistrelle bat (Pipistrellus pipistrellus) was studied by means of bat boxes in southern Sweden. The males set up territories around a roosting site in the beginning of the summer at the same time as the females formed nursing colonies.
